15 Mar Broken hydrostatic valve in a fibreglass pool in Algester
We then attended to a reported leaking fibreglass pool in ALgester, the pool was only a third full upon our arrival.
The only penetration in the pool was the hydrostatic valve and given the dramatic water loss the it was the most likely cause.
We entered the pool and noted a broken hydrostatic valve which is screwed into the the bottom of the pool. A dye test confirmed it was leaking. These particular type of hydrostatic valves are problematic to remove. We tried our engineered removal tool which failed to remove the valve.
There is a real possibility that an empty fibreglass pool can pop out of the ground if there is no water in the pool. We discussed the best outcome with our client and cut the lid of a new hydrostatic valve and positioned in place before applying epoxy putty over the hydrostatic valve.
