This morning we attended to a reported concealed water leak in Eagleby. A water meter test revealed a leak of 635 litres per day. A pressure test failed. We then introduced Tracer gas into the line and using our gas detector obtained a gas reading near the water meter. We excavated to locate a 25mm poly pipe in a 40 mm conduit. This makes leak detection impossible as the gas was coming our of the end of the conduit. Always mindful of costs to our client, we showed him our findings and suggested the most cost effective option would be to run a new line from the meter to the last repair.
