Tiled swimming pool leak detection and repair in Kallangur

This morning we attended to a reported leaking fully tiled swimming pool in Kallangur. We first obtained background information from the tenant saying they were losing water and would loose prime when the Kreepy Krawly was connected to the skimmer box.
We tested the multi port valve on the sand filter before we pressure tested all possible concealed plumbing.
We identified the 4 x spa jets was leaking and water was pouring out of from behind the jets when tested.
Being mindful of rectification costs to the owner the most cost effective way was to isolate the spa line at the pump and plug all 4 x spa jets with 40mm flat plugs.
The other lines , suction and return lines all held pressure.
We were unable to test the water feature line.
We noted the isolation shut off valve on the suction line was leaking, our licenced plumber replaced the leaking valve and reconfigured the pipework.
We hydrophoned all the penetrations before entering the pool and inspecting and replaced the 50mm hydrostatic valve located in the main drain. This valve needed replacing.
We then identified some missing tiles and some structural cracking of the side wall of the pool, we dye tested though not obviously drawing dye is potentially a problem down the track.
We reactivated the pump now obtaining full prime and the Kreepy Krawly is now operating confirming the leaking inline shut off was the cause of loss of prime.
