16 Mar Fibreglass swimming pool leak detection and insurance report in Alexandra Hill
We then attended to a reported leaking fibreglass pool in Alexandra Hills, our client detailed a sudden drop in the pool water after the recent rain event. We tested and inspected the skimmer box , main drain and hydrostatic valve with a hydrophone microphone. We noted some puttied areas on the first 2 steps . We entered the pool and dye tested and replaced the hydrostatic valve before inspecting the puttied steps. Examination of this revealed a major crack in the fibreglass measuring over a one metre. We dye tested to see dye escaping at several areas along the crack. We discussed our finding with our client who had already submitted a clim thru insurance. We applied an epoxy putty bead over the site before re dye testing to find it secure. This will be a short term fix until the insurance assessors attend and inspect. Ideally a fibreglasser is required to attend and repair the shell. We conducted a report including images and video for the information of our client and their insurer.
