This morning we attended to a reported water leak in Toowong, we first noticed a lot of water pouring out in the kerb from the stormwater discharge. A water meter test revealed a huge leak of 12342 litres per day, a pressure test failed. We traced the line and introduced compressed air which identified a likely leak source near the front garden tap. We excavated down to locate a failed 16mm poly pipe located under a stormwater grate drain . Our licensed plumber completed the repair before testing the repair then the line to find it now secure. Our plumber reconfigured the stormwater drain.We backfilled with sand and reinstated the site. We encouraged our client to contact his house insurer to see whether it is a claimable event. We assisted our client to make a claim through their water provider for some of the water charges caused by a concealed leak. A water loss of that amount would equate to approx $50 per day.
