Water leak detection & repair on rural property in Mt Pleasant

This morning we attended to a house leak on a rural property in Mt Pleasant, our client reported his tank pump was constantly cycling which gave rise to a leak. He had a local plumber attend and check all the services inside the property without success. We attended and noted the pump to be cycling every 6 mins for around 10 seconds which gave rise to a smallish type leak. We conducted a pressure test on the line which failed. We then traced the line and introduced compressed air without success. We then introduced tracer gas which gave an indication under concrete near the outside tap. With the owners consent we drilled some discrete pilot holes in the expansion joints before honing in on the likely leak location. After quoting for the repair which was accepted we use a quick cut concrete saw and removed a section of concrete path, further excavation revealed a failed 1/2″ copper to poly joiner. Our licensed plumber completed the repair before testing the line to find it now secure. We backfilled the site and reinstated the concrete to save our client further expense. We provided a written report and our client took our earlier advice to contact his house insurer which will cover some of our leak detection costs.
