Massive concealed water leak in Balmoral

Massive concealed water leak in Balmoral

This morning to returned to a huge concealed water leak in Balmoral. We first attended on Saturday to identify a water leak of 28,800 litres per day or 1 litre every 3 seconds. We traced the line and introduced compressed air without success. We then introduced tracer gas into the line and eventually detected gas coming out of the sewer vent pipe. This told us the water pipe was accessing the sewer drain. We returned to conduct CCTV inspection of the sewer drain before identifying a damaged sewer drain with water dripping in from above. We then used our RD7100 locator to locate the position on the surface including determining the depth of the pipe. Our client would engage his plumber who has an excavator to complete the repair. We advised our client to contact his house insurer, which in this case won’t cover him for any leak detection or repair costs. We provider our client with a link to the Water rebate scheme through Urban Utilities and reminder him to obtain a licensed plumbers invoice in order to make a claim of the massive water charges caused by a concealed leak.
