House leak detection and repair at Yamanto

Recently we attended to a house leak in Yamanto, a water meter test revealed a leak of 720 litres per day. This leak was identified by his neighbour who was experiencing wetness in his rear yard. We conducted a pressure test which failed and after tracing the line we introduced a combination of compressed air and tracer gas to locate the likely leak source at the rear of the property near the laundry. This property backed on to the Ipswich motorway so traffic noise was high thus relining on our gas detector to hone in on the leak location. We drilled a number of pilot holes into the concrete and reintroduced gas to further define the leak location. We will return to the property when the owner returns to remove a section of the concrete and repair the leak.

This afternoon we returned and removed a 600mm x 600mm square section of concrete and then excavated down 900 mm to locate a failed 25mm poly T piece . Our licenced plumber completed the repair, then we tested the line to ensure the lines was secure. We back filled the trench before completing assisting our client to 1/. lodge a claim with their insurance company and 2/. lodge a claim for a water rebate from their water provider of some of the water charges cause by a concealed leak.
