Pebblecrete swimming pool leak detection Carindale

Pebblecrete swimming pool leak detection Carindale

Yesterday we attended to a reported leaking pebbelecrete swimming pool in Carindale.

We tested the 5 way valve, pressure tested the suction side which was secure.

We then tested the return side 5 times which contained 3 return jets which did not hold pressure.

This is consistent with our clients thoughts of loosing more water when the pump was running.

There is a water feature, 6 spa jets and 38 blower holes in the seat which makes it a challenging pool. Testing of the spa jets which contained air breathers are problematic to pressure test.

We then used a hydrophoned microphone to test the skimmer box, return jets , spa jets, blower holes , main drain and hydrostatic valve and light listening for the sound of water escaping.

We then entered the pool and dye tested all mentioned above looking for an indication of dye escaping to identify a leak source.

We removed the light fitting and bracket to test for leaks.

Finally we conducted an in pool physical inspection of the pools floor and wall looking for any cracks or imperfections.

We then introduced gas into the return line looking for a gas indication on the surface, however given the configuration of the return jets and the abundance of concrete no reading was identified.

OUTCOME

We then discussed options going forward with our client and agreed to refer to another specialist contractor to assist with the specific location and a NO DIG repair.
