We attended to a pebblecrete swimming pool pre purchase inspection in Hillcrest. Our client was concerned about a number of what appeared to puttied over structural cracks in the wall and floor of the pool. We tested the concealed plumbing , hydrophoned and dye tested all pool penetrations namely skimmer box, return jets, spa jets, main drain and hydrostatic valve, none of which appeared to be compromised. We then paid close attention to the previously repaired puttied areas. We obtain overall measurements of the cracks, then dye tested to reveal 2 areas appeared compromised. A follow up telephone call to the client then a detailed report with rectification options /trades were offered. The client now needs to consider whether to proceed with the purchase and/or negotiate with the vendor or opt out of the contract.
